RX2660 power issue, may be failing supply

We have a customer whose RX2660 with single power supply has been bouncing. Nothing logs at VMS level; straight from normal ops to cold boot.

The system is on a UPS, other devices on the UPS show no signs of a problem, and the site claims no indication of power issues, and the drops don't correspond to the UPS doing battery/self tests.

The iLO log shows the following errors.

Warning Baseboard Management Controller; POWER_SUPPLY_FAIL_OR_DISCONNECT
12 Jan 2017 21:47:53 Power supply failed or disconnected

11 Fatal Baseboard Management Controller; SHUTDOWN_OR_RESET_ON_SENSOR 12 Jan 2017 21:47:53 System shut down or reset caused by sensor reading

Is that what we'd expect to see if the p/s itself is failing?

Thanks

My first suspect would be the sensor not the supply. This unit has 2 supplies right?

If not, add in the second supply. This can be the supply too, but I would have expected other symptoms first. A cold boot is not likely to "repair" a supply for any length of time. Check for dust and any impairment of hte air flow too.

I've had intermittent loss of redundancy on an rx2660 and it was fixed by replacing the PSU. With one it's more of a guess but mine would be PSU first FWIW.

Thanks both for replying. It has happened twice more, same symptoms. There is only one supply in place but the unit is under support.

Unfortunately HP support is not under support (" Support Case Manager Error Page HP Passport Service is down. Please try later... ") so I can't put the request in right now.

Fortunately power supplies are not that expensive online, so even with a support call to fix/replace the current issue, I may be able to convince the site to purchase a redundant supply.

What about the telephone numbers support customers can call in the US to
log a call or have they all disappeared ?

Simon.
