Dear friends of VMS,

The next webinar meeting "Rendez-vous autour de VMS" of the
VMSgenerations association will be held on Tuesday February 6 from 2 to
4:30 p.m. as a zoom conference.

Here's the zoom link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89345414458?pwd=T0l3SFNnS21GYW5paXdCNkZaUUZCQT09

We look forward to seeing you there!

Agenda

14:00 - VMSgenerations welcome

14h05 - Imperva - Mohamed Lallouch, Data Security and Compliance Specialist

Data and APIs are major security blind spots today, and are increasingly
being exploited for supplychain attacks. At the dawn of NIS2 regulatory
changes, find out what security practices you need to adopt for your
databases and APIs in an on-premises, hybrid and/or multi-cloud
environment. This webinar will help you learn more about NIS2, as well
as the security methods and tools to comply with it, such as discovery
and classification, vulnerability scanning, and behavioral analysis.

At Imperva (A Thales Company), Mohamed shares best practices on security
and data protection with organizations and companies in France and
Southern Europe.

14h35 - Commvault - Fabrice Mazier, Senior Enterprise System Engineer at
Commvault

Commvault, a leader in the cyber resilience market, has historically
been recognized for its data protection solutions.

Commvault's unified management platform brings modern security
management to OpenVMS environments.

Fabrice MAZIER will present these features and the advantages of our offer.

15h05 - User testimonial: Harold Potier PharmaPilot - Walden Group /
distribution of healthcare products

How to secure a VMS environment in a heterogeneous environment.

The use of different technologies helps protect against cyber attacks,
because despite the robustness of the system, rebound attacks are
possible in this type of environment.

15h35 - VSI - Adam Hoff Nielsen, Sales Director at VMS Software Inc -
Darya Zelenina, appointed CEO

VMS Software Inc. will present the latest security updates we're working
on, and introduce our new CEO, Darya Zelenina, who will discuss what to
consider when migrating to x86 from a project management perspective.

16h : Q&A

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us:
***@vmsgenerations.fr

Thank you in advance for your participation,

The session will be held in French

Hello everyone,

Did anything interesting come out of this meeting ?

Anything on BASIC or Rdb ? Any meaningful security enhancements for VMS ?

Just as some neutral feedback, personally, I feel that requiring these
meetings to be in French heavily restricts the audience for them. English
is much more of an international common language than French is, even if
French is established as an alternative language in some localised parts
of the world.

Thanks,

Simon.

I dunno; almost everyone in Montreal speaks English, though they
do kind of act uncool about it if they think that you're
Canadian and don't know French. Once I told them I was American
they were very happy to speak to me in English.

Canada is not on my list of places to visit... :-)

[Nothing negative about the country, just nothing really appealing

A meeting intended for a global audience should be hold in English.

But I believe this is a meeting with mostly french presenters
targeting a french audience, where they as a gift to the rest
of the world make the content available in English afterwards.

I just found the idea rather rude. I thought it was supposed to be
the Americans who thought the whole world should be speaking their
language?

What do you call a person who speaks three languages? Trilingual

What do you call a person who speaks two languages? Bilingual

What do you call a person who speaks only one languages? American

Agreed. Sadly too many Brits sometimes just shout louder in English

I think it is nice that the French are prepared to send out translations
for those who can't/won't speak their language

A cute anecdote.
I have never considered my French to be beyond the conversational.
About 25 years ago I made a trip to France for the Chartres Pilgrimage.
I found my self frequently translating for English speakers at
souvenir stands but the biggest kick was when one of the people who
ran the facility we stayed at prior to our departure for Chartres told
me my French was better than the Canadians I was traveling with. :-)

Sadly, I don't get to use any of my languages other than English and I
fear the ability is declining even faster than my memory.

Yes, it is. But they are kind enough to send out an invitation
for those that are happy to listen to, and understand enough of,
a french presentation. And the Q/A sessions has before been
mixed french/english depending on who has the Q's.

Simon is simply out of touch with reality here.
