Other than Google, is there someplace to search or download older posts from USEnet? I just found out the hard way that Thunderbird apparently does not keep past messages despite being configured to "Don't delete any messages" and the two sources I have - Eternal-September and news.individual.net only store the last few years worth. I tried getting a message from 2022 and got "A News (NNTP) error occurred: Bad article number"

Hi Ken. I get the page but it ask for a logon id and password. Do I need to request an account?

Thanks!

I have a few links at the bottom of:
https://www.vajhoej.dk/arne/vms/forums.html

Google was both the most complete and the best searchable.

News server providers may or may not have much depth in their local
newsgroup archives.

For deeper archives:

https://www.usenetarchives.com/threads.php?id=comp.os.vms&y=0&r=0&p=1

The Usenet Archive has been working on improving their search capabilities.

If you'll give me more information on the article that you're looking
for, newsgroup, poster or subject, and approximate date, I'll see if I
have it on my private archive server.

You can follow up here or email me directly if you'd rather not be public.
